Aaron Elmore of Auburn receives $30,000 scholarship from the University of Illinois Springfield

Aaron Elmore of Auburn, a senior at Auburn High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield and awarded a $30,000 Lincoln Scholarship for tuition over four years.

The scholarship is awarded based on GPA and ACT/SAT scores and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains a college GPA of 4.0 or higher.

All incoming UIS freshmen are eligible to apply for Lincoln Merit Scholarships. The amount awarded is based upon the incoming student’s ACT or SAT score.

To receive $30,000 over four years, students must earn a 27 to a 29 on their ACT or a minimum of 1280 SAT and hold a minimum GPA of 4.0.

At UIS, Elmore plans to major in Computer Science and eventually seek a master’s degree in computer science.

“My goal is to pursue my bachelor’s degree while still being near my friends and family as well as the comforts of home,” said Elmore.

At Auburn High School he is involved in Scholastic Bowl, National Honor Society, Math Club and Chess Club.

Gianni Perkins of Springfield receives a University of Illinois Springfield scholarship

Gianni Perkins of Springfield, a senior at Springfield High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield and awarded a $13,000 Lincoln Scholarship for tuition over 4 years.

At UIS, she plans to major in psychology. In high school, she played basketball, was on the track team and was a member of the Spanish Club.

“I chose UIS because it is close to home,” she said. “I heard great things about the campus and its programs.”

Following graduation from UIS, she plans to become a clinical psychologist working with children or families.

All incoming UIS freshmen are eligible to apply for Lincoln Merit Scholarships. The amount awarded is based upon the incoming student’s ACT or SAT score. In order to receive $13,000 over four years, students must earn a 21 on their ACT and hold a 3.75 GPA.
