Parker Curry of Belleville, a senior at Mascoutah High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2021 and awarded a full ride Capital Scholars Honors Program Scholarship.
The scholarship covers up to 16 credit hours of tuition, mandatory fees and room and board each semester and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
Curry is a member of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp and is a member of the math team, Spanish Club and the National Honor Society at Mascoutah High School. He also volunteers in his community.
He chose UIS because he is “confident that the small class sizes, access to professors and the ability to conduct research will allow me to be a competitive applicant for medical school,” he said.
Capital Scholars Honors Program scholarships are competitive and are based on high school GPA. UIS is not requiring students to submit ACT/SAT scores for the 2021-22 academic year.
The Honors Program is a selective undergraduate program combining high standards and emphasis on excellence with a small residential college model, enrolling only about 100 first-year students each year.
