Keegan Sabol of Kampsville receives a University of Illinois Springfield scholarship

Keegan Sabol, a Kampsville resident and 2016 graduate of Calhoun High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield and awarded a $13,000 Lincoln Scholarship for tuition over 4 years.

He plans to major in computer science at UIS and wants to become a video game developer or computer programmer.

“I have researched and found UIS to provide an excellent education at a reasonable cost,” said Sabol. “It is small enough to offer a great student-teacher ratio, but still offers the best in a college education. I also have family members who attended UIS and have done well that encouraged me to attend.”

At Calhoun High School, Sabol was on the scholastic bowl team, a member of the track team and played baseball. He was also a member of the National Honor Society, a teacher's aide, and took part in the Olympiad.

All incoming UIS freshmen are eligible to apply for Lincoln Merit Scholarships. The amount awarded is based upon the incoming student’s ACT or SAT score. In order to receive $13,000 over four years, students must earn a 21-23 on their ACT and hold a 3.75-3.99 GPA.
