Valentina Rodriguez Escobar of Gurnee receives a University of Illinois Springfield scholarship

Valentina Rodriguez Escobar of Gurnee, a senior at Warren Township High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield and awarded a $12,000 Lincoln Scholarship for tuition over 4 years.

At UIS, she plans to major in business administration and will play for the NCAA Division II Prairie Stars women’s soccer team. She played varsity soccer in high school.

“At UIS, there are many academic and athletic opportunities that I am excited to pursue. I am confident the academics will prepare me for a successful future that will help me to accomplish my professional goals. Athletically, UIS provides me a challenging environment that allows me to compete at a high level,” she said.

Following graduation, she plans to excel in the business world and become a successful, bilingual businesswoman.

All incoming UIS freshmen are eligible to apply for Lincoln Merit Scholarships. The amount awarded is based upon the incoming student’s ACT or SAT score. In order to receive $12,000 over four years, students must earn a 21 on their ACT and hold a 3.5 GPA.
