Kameron Kline of Mount Carmel receives a $6,500 scholarship from the University of Illinois Springfield

Kameron Kline of Mount Carmel, a senior at Mount Carmel High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield and awarded a $6,500 Lincoln Scholarship for tuition over two years.

The scholarship is awarded based on GPA and ACT/SAT scores and can be renewed for a total of two years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

At UIS, Kline will major in pre-nursing with plans to transfer to the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing Springfield Regional Campus (located on the UIS campus) her junior year.

“It is a great school where I can farther expand my education,” said Kline. “It’s not too far away from home. I just feel like UIS is perfect for me.”

At Mount Carmel High, Kline plays basketball and is a member of the track team. She’s also a member of the National Honors Society, Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Youth Advisory Board, honors class and is an office worker.

All incoming UIS freshmen are eligible to apply for Lincoln Merit Scholarships. The amount awarded is based upon the incoming student’s ACT or SAT score. To receive $6,500 over two years, students must earn a 21 to a 23 on their ACT or a minimum of 1060 SAT and hold a minimum high school GPA of 3.75.
