Colton Smith of Matherville admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield

Colton Smith of Matherville, a senior at Sherrard High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall 2018 term.

At Sherrard High School, he is part of the student government, Drama Club and the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA). He plans to major in political science at UIS.

“I’m choosing UIS because of the political opportunity, and the change that I want to see and make in the world,” he said.

Following graduation from UIS, he plans to run for political office.
